PhD graduation robes or doctorate graduation robes are different from bachelors or masters graduation robes. The robe can either be worn closed or opened and either side of the front opening consists of a velvet panel. The sleeves of PhD graduation robes are bell-shaped with velvet bars horizontally placed on their upper part. The color of the velvet could be black or a color that corresponds to the filed of study. The entire PhD graduation robes should be black or a color that corresponds to the rewarding educational institution.
